Synopsis:
During the War of Resistance Against Japan, a squad of Eighth Route Army soldiers sacrifices their lives to protect a martyr’s orphan. A teenage boy, Dali, escapes with the infant while being hunted by Japanese and puppet troops. The child is later adopted by an elderly blind woman, Granny Sun. Dali’s repeated attempts to reclaim the boy fail, only for him to discover that Granny Sun is herself a patriotic fighter. When Japanese forces attack the village, Granny Sun and her bandit son give their lives to protect the villagers, allowing Dali and her granddaughter Xiulan to safely escort the orphan to the revolutionary base.
