The Valencia International Educational Film Festival for Children was founded in 2013 in Valencia, Spain, by the Valencia Cultural Association in collaboration with various cultural entities. It is chaired by the renowned Spanish educator Josep, who has passionately advocated for the significance of audiovisual education in an increasingly media- and technology-driven world.
Since its inception, the festival has continuously expanded in scope and influence, transforming into a global benchmark for educational outreach through cinema. Its Global Touring Program has brought the festival’s message and experiences to the entire Valencian community and beyond—to Latin America and other parts of the world—leaving a profound mark on both the education and film sectors.
This year, for the first time in the festival’s history, a feature-length film will serve as the opening film, and that honor has been bestowed upon the Chinese film Little Whip. As Festival President Josep has repeatedly expressed:
“We salute Chinese children’s cinema!”
